Parish Council

Stathern Parish Council consists of six elected councillors and one salaried clerk.  All councillors live within the village, giving them a personal interest in working to benefit the community and parish.


The council meets monthly, on the second Tuesday, in the Plough Inn function room.    Everyone is welcome  to attend.    A total of 15 minutes is allocated at 7pm for members of the public to address the council but if there are no speakers then the meeting will start at 7pm.  

The council is funded via the precept which Melton Borough Council pay to the council each year and is shown on your Council Tax Bill. 

The Parish Council are responsible for:

  • Street Lights (with the exception of Valebrook/Swallows Drive) and the group of bungalows off Harby Lane.

  • Cemeteries - Tofts Hill, the Closed Cemetery and Moor Lane Green Cemetery   

  • The allotment gardens and the field behind Moor Lane Cemetery

  • St. Guthlac's Churchyard   

  • Grass and hedge cutting of council land

  • Various benches, bins and dog bins in the village

  • The playpark (via the SRA subcommittee)
